The short version. NAMobile does not collect, track, or sell your personal data. Your guitar audio is processed entirely on your device and is never transmitted anywhere. The only time the app talks to the internet is when you choose to use the built-in TONE3000 catalog (to browse and download amp models) — and that traffic goes to TONE3000, not to us. There are no ads, no analytics, and no third-party trackers.
NAMobile is an open-source Android application that runs Neural Amp Modeler (NAM) amp models locally, in real time, through a USB audio interface. This policy explains what the app does and does not do with data. In this document, “we”, “us”, and “the app” refer to NAMobile and its developer.
NAMobile’s core purpose is to process the guitar signal from your USB audio interface through an amp model in real time. This audio processing happens entirely on your device. Your instrument audio is not recorded to a server, not uploaded, not shared, and not stored by the app beyond the momentary audio buffers required to process sound as you play.
Android requires the microphone permission (RECORD_AUDIO) to receive audio input from a USB audio interface. NAMobile requests this permission for that technical reason only. It is not used to record you, and no captured audio is transmitted.
NAMobile includes an optional “Tone Explorer” that lets you browse and download amp models from TONE3000. This feature is the only part of the app that uses the internet.
If you never connect or use the Tone Explorer, NAMobile makes no network requests at all.
NAMobile can pair with a Bluetooth Low Energy MIDI foot controller (for example, an M-VAVE Chocolate) to switch presets hands-free. This is a direct, local connection between your phone and your controller. No MIDI or Bluetooth data is collected or transmitted off your device.
On Android 10 and 11, the operating system requires location permission to scan for Bluetooth devices. NAMobile requests it solely so Bluetooth scanning works on those versions; it does not collect, use, or share your location. On Android 12 and newer, the app uses the dedicated Bluetooth permissions declared with neverForLocation.
RECORD_AUDIO) — to receive input from your USB audio interface (required by Android for USB audio capture). Audio is processed locally and never transmitted. We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with third parties for advertising. The only data leaving your device is the requests you initiate with TONE3000 when you use the Tone Explorer, as described above.
All app data — your rigs and presets, cached models, and any TONE3000 tokens — is stored locally on your device. To delete it:
NAMobile is a tool for musicians and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Sensitive on-device data (TONE3000 tokens) is encrypted with AES-GCM in the app’s private storage. Because the app collects no personal data on a server, there is no server-side store of your information to breach.
If this policy changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above and publish the revised version at this URL.
